Questions about the tour:

Where can I find out more about "Bike Travel Weekend?"

  • Bike Travel Weekend is an event created by cycling advocacy group, Adventure Cycling. This is the third annual "celebration of cycling" and Alpaca Adventure Tours is proud to be part of this event! Learn More about Bike Travel Weekend!

What kind of bike should I bring? Are rentals available?

  • The Katy Trail is entirely gravel and the optional loops around Hermann are mostly road and some gravel. We recommend using a hybrid bicycle.
  • Arrangements for bike rentals will be made through a local St. Charles company, arrangements can be made through Alpaca Adventure Tours. Additional rental costs and fees apply.

What else should I bring for the weekend?

  • Depending on your choice of overnight accommodations, you may want to pack different things. We recommend checking out our "Packing List" for a full breakdown. *Note: All accommodations and meal locations are casual, no need to dress up!

I'm a novice rider, can I participate in this ride?

  • YES! While we encourage you to ride as much as possible, we understand that you may enjoy shorter distances. Alpaca SAG shuttles are set up to give you peace of mind that you are never stranded and options to cut the miles down to your comfort level!
